Southport Flower Show
West Lancashire - Southport
2009 - part 1
The Southport Flower Show celebrated its 80th anniversary with a dazzling array of color in 2009 with more plants and personalities in attendance than ever before.
Tens of thousands of visitors flooded into Victoria Park to experience on of the most loved flower shows in the whole country.
Pantomime legend Christopher Biggins launched the event and seemingly single-handedly pushed away dampening rain clouds.
The Show had taken on a 1920 theme in honor of the anniversary and many people turned up in appropriate fancy dress to mark the occasion, others just came along to admire the beautiful flora and fauna.
David Jackson, the Flower Show’s chief executive, praised the standard of entries in show, saying: “The judges have awarded more gold medals this year than they have in the last four years, the quality of horticulture here is second to none.”
