Some of the most powerful engines in the world roared into action over the bank holiday weekend.
The Great Eccleston Tractor Pulling Championships attracted 10,000 enthusiasts into the village showground to watch these big-wheeled behemoths fight it out for the top prizes.
The overall winner of the prestigious Euro Cup was Robert Armistead, of Out Rawcliffe, whose 1000kg tractor Little Dan pulled a four-tonne sled for a huge 96 metres.
The sleds used for pulling are designed to increase in weight as the pull grows longer, meaning that the further the tractor goes the heavier its cargo.
John Eccles, vice-chairman of the North West Tractor Pullers Club, missed out on winning the British Championships after finishing a close second in his class with his simply huge - Simply Red machine.
He said: "It has been very well supported and very successful – over the weekend, we have had about 9,000 to 10,000 over here.
"I am second in the British championships – I'm very suited but I'm always the bridesmaid and never the bride!"
