13th and 14th June 2009
Record crowds turned out in the gorgeous Preston sunshine to enjoy this year's Penwortham Gala.
The streets were awash with colour, noise, floats and fun as the annual June celebrations lasted all day and through the night.
After the parade through Penwortham the gala was officially opened by the Mayor, Councillor Jim Hothersall, in front of thousands of people on Hurst Grange Park.
Antique's Guru Paul Hayes from Cash in the Attic was on hand to value items with music and entertainment provided by the Bamber Bridge Morris Dancers, New Longton Dance Club and Mary Whelan's Irish Dancers.
David Borrow, MP for South Ribble, said: "It is always a privilege to be invited back to the Penwortham Gala. Every year the organisers do a fantastic job and put on a wonderful event and this year was no different.
"It was great to see so many people out supporting the gala and enjoying the lovely sunny weather".
