The 24 hours of Le Mans is the world's oldest active sports car race and endurance racing event.

Held originally in 1923, near the town of Le Mans in France, it has just celebrated its 80th year.

Le Mans is twinned with the Lancashire town of Bolton, who last weekend ran its very own motorsport festival.

The Bolton Le Mans Motorsport Festival is organised by Jack Marsden and was insired by the Goodwood Festival of Speed. 

Cllr Guy Harkin the Mayor of Bolton was on hand to open the event which featured the launch of the new peugeot 208,  the all-new Fords Ranger

Visitors to the show could try their hand at being a formula One Racing Driver with the Grand Prix Experience F1 simulator.

Also at the event was the fantastic Ford GT40 as driven by Steve McQueen in the 1960's classic film 'Le Mans'.
