South Ribble - Preston
13th & 14th June 2010
Thousands of people flooded out from the suburbs for Penwortham’s annual festival of fun. The Penwortham Gala, in June, saw the town’s Hurst Grange Park filled with music, entertainment and our cameras.
The event kicked off on Saturday with the parade, which was led by Gala Queen Olivia Parkinson, 11, and the Mayors of Penwortham, Councillor Linda Woollard, and South Ribble's Councillor David Suthers.
They were joined by the Greater Manchester Fire Service Pipe Band, Bamber Bridge Morris Dancers and Scout, school and youth groups as they set off from Hill Road South.
The fun continued in the park with performances by the Mary Whelan Irish Dancers, magician Andrew Green and a keep fit class.
And Saturday night reached its end with a free open-air concert featuring Tom Jones and ABBA tribute acts.
