The Council’s Sports Development Team and local BE inVOLved volunteers are giving young people the chance to experience different sports this summer. BE inVOLved volunteers are people are aiming to increase opportunities for people in sports clubs so that there can be a continuous increase in participation.

From Monday 6 August - Friday 24 August young people will be encouraged to improve their skills with quality coaching for all in a vast array of different sports.

The first week will be at Darwen Leisure Centre, and the second week at Shadsworth Leisure Centre costing £5 per child for each week. These morning sessions, including sports such as football, basketball, athletics, tennis and rugby, will link in with the PlayScheme, creating an all-round service in a safe and friendly environment.

The Third (CAPS) week at Pleckgate High School, will be a full day of sports coaching and fun games in a variety of sports, mainly focusing on cricket, and will cost £10 per child.

It is hoped that from these events it will also inspire them to chase sporting greatness at local level in the borough. The Sports Development Team is inviting young people to take on the challenge of taking part in all the sports on offer!
